Bentley Defeats New Haven 3-0 on Senior Night Behind Three Different Goal Scorers

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley women's soccer team celebrated its Senior Night in style with a 3-0 victory over Northeast-10 opponent New Haven on Saturday night, on the Bentley football field.

Playing in front of family, friends and many Bentley women's soccer alumni, the Falcons scored once in the first half and twice in the second half to earn the win.

Sophomore Gabby Vachon (Pocasset, Mass./Austin Prep) put Bentley in front in the 38th minute. Senior Brooke Jones (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) fired a shot from the right side of the penalty area off the cross bar, and Vachon was there on the doorstep to head in the rebound for the goal.

Some nice passing and teamwork led to Bentley's two second half goals.

Senior Lily Silva (North Grafton, Mass./Grafton) netted her third goal of the season in the 64th minute. The ball started with Jenna Hendriksen (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke) in midfield and she fed a pass out to Bridget Gleason (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) on the right wing.

Gleason then threaded a crossing pass across the penalty area to the far post, which Silva got on the end of for the goal and a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore Sydney O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) then made it 3-0 in the 79th minute. The ball went from Jayne Conry (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba) in midfield to freshman Scarlett D'Amico (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville). She fed a short pass to O'Connor on the right wing, who blasted a shot from 15 yards to the near post for the goal.

Sophomore keeper Claire Ewen (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) made seven saves to earn the win.

The Falcons improve to 2-2-2 overall and 1-1 NE10. Their next match is on Wednesday night at AIC.
