Bentley Wins NE10 Opener, 1-0 at New Haven

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Dana Goulet (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) scored for the third straight game and the team kept a clean sheet as the Bentley women's soccer team won its NE10 Conference opener at New Haven on Wednesday night, 1-0.

Goulet scored in the 15th minute, with senior defender Maeli Cherry (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) on the assist, the same combination that produced Bentley's goal in its last game at Holy Family.

That goal gave Bentley a 1-0 lead that they would not relinquish. The Falcon defense stifled the Chargers attack all game and limited them to just three total shots, two shots on goal and no shots at all in the second half.

Graduate student goalkeeper Kat Hassapis (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) earned her 12th career shutout in the win for the Falcons.

The Falcons improved to 1-1-2 and 1-0 in the NE10. The team's next game is on Homecoming Saturday when they host Southern Connecticut at 11:00 am.
