Wargo Named Northeast-10 Goalie of the Week; Johnson and Slattery to Honor Roll

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's Ashlee Wargo (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) was named the Northeast-10 Women's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week on Tuesday.

Wargo played a huge role in the team's sweep of its Florida trip that saw wins over No. 18 and previously unbeaten St. Leo and No. 2 Florida Southern, both in overtime.

She made 10 saves in the victory over St. Leo on Thursday night. She then stopped a season-high 14 shots in the win over Florida Southern on Saturday. Five of those saves came in the 4th quarter, including a save on a free-position shot with one second left in regulation that sent the game to overtime tied 16-16.

Two other Falcons were honored this week by the NE10, as junior attacker Maeve Johnson (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) and sophomore defender Kathryn Slattery (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) were both named to the weekly Honor Roll.

Johnson had seven goals in the two games and Slattery was a main cog in Bentley's defensive efforts. She had two ground balls and two caused turnovers against St. Leo and a season high four ground balls and two caused turnovers against Florida Southern.

The Falcons have won five straight games and rose seven spots in this week's ILWomen/IWLCA Division II Poll to No. 14.

The team will be back in action on Wednesday night when they host Assumption at 7:00 PM.
