No. 14 Bentley Improves to 3-1 with 11-9 Victory over Franklin Pierce

Rindge, N.H. – No. 14 ranked Bentley University improved to 3-1 on the season with an 11-9 win on the road over Franklin Pierce on Wednesday night.

Graduate student goalie Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North) made 13 saves to earn the win, the 25th of her career.

Senior Cara McCarthy (Salem, N.H./Central Catholic) led a balanced offensive attack with three goals. Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) with two goals was the only other player with multiple goals. The other goals came from six different players.

Glavin notched her 120th career goal on the night, which moved her into a tie for 8th all-time in Bentley's history.

Bentley led 6-5 at halftime and then scored four of the first five goals of the 2nd half, over a span of 12-plus minutes. Junior Christine Fish (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland) and McCarthy scored quickly out of the gate in the first two-plus minutes of the half to give their team an 8-5 lead.

The Falcons defense, meanwhile, locked down the Franklin Pierce attack. The Ravens managed just seven shots through the first 17-plus minutes of the half, with six of those shots saved by Bresler.

Goals by Bentley's Kenzie Lupton (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) at the 19:15 mark and Stephanie McAuliffe (Natick, Mass./Natick) at the 17:39 mark expanded the lead to 10-6.

Franklin Pierce did make a run with three unanswered goals to get to within 10-9 with 7:21 remaining.

But the Ravens got off just two shots the rest of the game. And a goal by Glavin with 3:05 remaining sealed the victory for the Falcons.

With the win, Bentley improved its record to 3-1 overall and 2-1 NE10. Their next scheduled game is on April 7 at Stonehill.
