1st-Place Bentley Falcons Wrap Up Road Schedule Wednesday at Franklin Pierce

RINDGE, N.H. – One of only nine women's basketball teams in Division II with at least ten home and ten road wins, the Bentley University Falcons will be away from Waltham for the final time during the regular season Wednesday when they play at Franklin Pierce University. The 5:30 pm game from the FPU Field House will be streamed for free over the NE10 NOW digital network.

Bentley, following wins against Saint Rose Saturday (65-46) and St. Michael's Monday (70-55), is 21-4 overall and 10-2 on the road this season. In this week's WBCA rankings, the Falcons moved from 17th to 14th.

Franklin Pierce, which snapped Assumption's 12-game winning streak and handed the Hounds their first home loss of the season on Saturday, has won four straight to improve to 15-9 overall.

With the schedule down to its final three games, Bentley has a one-game lead over both Assumption and Southern New Hampshire as the two-time defending NE10 tournament champions look to capture their first regular season title since 2019. On Wednesday, while the Falcons are visiting the Ravens, SNHU will be at Southern Connecticut and Assumption will be at St. Michael's. The Greyhounds and Penmen will face off against each other on Saturday in Manchester.

In Monday's win against the Purple Knights, sophomore forward Julia Elie (Rockland/Rockland HS) became the seventh different Falcon to earn game-high scoring honors this season. She netted a season-high 14 points, on five-of-six shooting, while playing less than 13 minutes off the bench. Senior forward Maggie Whitmore (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS) added 11 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

For the season, Whitmore, graduate guard Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) and junior forward Kylie DuCharme (Wilmington/Wilmington HS) are Bentley's top three scorers with Whitmore scoring 12.8 a game, Thompson 10.8 and DuCharme 10.4.

DuCharme is among the conference leaders on both boards, Thompson is second in most three-pointers made, Whitmore is in the top four in three-point accuracy and free throw percentage, and freshman guard Niya Morgen (Swampscott/St. Mary's HS) continues to lead the NE10 in three-point percentage (30 of 54, .556).

Bentley, which set a program record Monday with a perfect 19-of-19 performance from the foul line, is fifth in Division II in both scoring defense and three-point percentage, as well as sixth in fewest turnovers, ninth in three-point percentage defense and tenth in both fewest fouls and free throw percentage.

Franklin Pierce has had a strong stretch with wins over Saint Anselm, Pace, Adelphi and Assumption since Feb. 7, with an average margin of 12.3 points.

The Ravens feature senior guard Anna Badosa Soler, who leads the Ravens in scoring (13.0) and assists (69) while also ranking second in rebounds (6.0) and steals (43). Six-four senior Colette Mulderig, who scores 10.6 a game, is among the conference's top shot blockers with 43.

As a team, coach Mark Swasey's team is fifth in the NE10 in scoring (59.9) and seventh in points allowed (57.1).

Back on Jan. 13, Whitmore put up a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double and DuCharme followed with 18 points in a 65-52 Falcon win over Franklin Pierce. Bentley had a commanding 60-38 lead after three and finished the contest with 21 points off turnovers.

All-time, Bentley is 44-10 against the Ravens and has won 14 of the last 15 meetings.

Following the trip to Franklin Pierce, two home games will remain on the regular season Bentley schedule. The Falcons will host Pace in a Senior Day game on Saturday and Southern Connecticut next Tuesday.
