WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshman guard Niya Morgen (Swampscott/St. Mary's HS) has been selected as the Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference as a result of her strong play in two wins last week for the Falcons.

Morgen shot .529 overall and made five of nine three-pointers while averaging 11.5 points, three rebounds and 1.5 steals for the unbeaten Falcons. Following an eight-point, five-rebound performance against New Haven, she had 15 points and two steals against St. Thomas Aquinas. Against the Spartans, she was five of seven overall and three of four from outside the arc.

Four games into her collegiate career, Morgen is averaging 11.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists for the Falcons while playing nearly 25 minutes a game off the bench. She's connected on 62 percent of her shot attempts, including eight of 15 from outside the arc. Morgen is fourth in the conference in field goal percentage as well as sixth in three-pointers and seventh in accuracy from deep.

Bentley, which was 18^th in the WBCA preseason Division II coaches poll, will take a 4-0 overall record into Tuesday's game at American International.
