WBCA Preseason Coaches Poll Lists Bentley at No. 18
WALTHAM, Mass. – After capturing a second straight Northeast-10 Conference tournament championship last March and making a summer trip to Greece, the Bentley University Falcons are ranked 18th in the preseason Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II coaches poll.
Coach C White, whose team finished 22-10 last season, returns the top three scorers and nine players from that team. Topping the list are All-Northeast-10 honorees Maggie Whitmore (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS) and Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS).
They were 1-2 on the team in scoring with Whitmore averaging 12.8 points and Thompson following at 10.8. Whitmore was sixth nationally in Division II in free throw percentage with a school record .916 and Thompson was among the NE10 leaders in three-pointers with 53.
Bentley, number two in the Northeast-10 preseason coaches poll, was one of two conference teams in the top 25. Assumption University, the defending East Region champion, took sixth in the voting.
Bentley will open the season Nov. 10-11 with games against Daemen University and Roberts Wesleyan in the RWU Redhawks Classic.
