Bentley ready to begin NE10 slate against teams from Manchester

UPDATE: Saturday's doubleheader against Southern New Hampshire has been postponed for April 17.

 

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley softball team jumps into its Northeast-10 schedule when the Falcons take on Southern New Hampshire Saturday, March 30, with a doubleheader that starts at 12 p.m. Following Easter Sunday, the Falcons have a conference doubleheader at St. Anselm Monday, April 1, starting at 3 p.m.

Saturday's game against Southern New Hampshire is scheduled to be in Manchester, but weather could shift the matchup to Bentley's campus. A decision will be made Friday.

 

Getting on

Freshman Hailey Feiler leads the Falcons in hitting with a .400 batting average, and she carries a .500 on-base percentage into the weekend. Those marks rank fourth and second, respectively, in the NE10.

 

Take two

Jordan Krause's five doubles this season leads the Falcons, and it is the second-best total in the conference. Krause hit 14 doubles in 2023, which ranked fourth in the NE10.

 

The workhorse

Riley Piromalli's 65.0 IP so far this season ranks third in the conference. Her 2.91 ERA ranks seventh among all NE10 pitchers with at least 40.0 IP.   

 

All gas

The Bentley pitching staff is striking out 5.01 batters per seven innings – the third-best mark among 12 NE10 teams.

 

Scouting Southern New Hampshire (9-9, 0-0 NE10)

The Penmen enter this weekend with one win in their last four games – albeit that win was a 15-4 thumping of Goldey-Beacom College (March 17). SNHU's 2.63 team ERA ranks fifth in the NE10, and its .302 batting average ranks second. SNHU leads the conference in home runs (10), runs (90), and ranks second in doubles (24). Peyton Feldman's .433 batting average is third in the NE10. Mackenzie Bruggeman and Abby Lineman are tied for second in the NE10 for home runs with four apiece.

 

Scouting Saint Anselm (8-13, 0-0 NE10)

The Hawks recently returned from a 14-game trip to Florida (March 8-16), where St. Anselm went 7-7. St. Anselm hosts Assumption Saturday (March 30) before welcoming Bentley Monday (April 1). The Hawks' .229 team batting average is 10th in the NE10, and its 3.45 ERA is tied for sixth. The team's leading hitter is Rose Reitmeyer (.344), and she is tied with Hannah Ramer for the team lead in steals (5). Ava Caputo leads the Hawks in RBI with 12.
