Track and Field Ready for Northeast 10 Outdoor Championships

WALTHAM, Mass. – The track and field teams will look for a big medal haul this weekend at the Northeast 10 Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday in New Haven, Connecticut.

Friday's action features trials for the sprints in the early afternoon. The 1500 and 10,000 finals will be held and the 4x800 relays are the final events of the day. Friday's field events feature the long jump, javelin and men's high jump.

Saturday is bookended by the 4x100 and the 4x400 and in between are the finals for the 100, 200, 400, 800, 5000 and 110 hurdles. The field events on Saturday include the shot put, triple jump, discus and women's high jump.

Caitlin Burmester is a top contender to medal for the women's team. She has the second fastest time in the 1500 in the NE10 this season at 4:36.33. She has the fourth fastest time in the 800 at 2:15.13

Freshman Molly Capece has the eighth fastest time in the 1500 at 4:59.42.

On the men's side Sam Capobianco will look to take home a medal in the 1500. He has the second fastest time this spring at 3:57.63. Capobianco will also look to medal in the 5000, where he has the seventh best time this spring in the NE10.

Senior Cole Duval will also look to bring home a medal in the 5000, where he is seeded ninth.

Two freshmen will look to medal in their first outdoor championship. Sam Balsis is seeded eighth in the 110 hurdles and Hayden MacArthur is 10th in the 800.
