Bentley Places 5 on Academic All-Northeast-10 Indoor Track Teams

WALTHAM, Mass. – Five members of the Bentley University indoor track and field teams were selected for Academic All-Northeast-10 honors.

Earning the recognition were sophomore Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS), senior Jack Deehan (Westwood/Westwood HS) and juniors Matt Chicko (North Andover/North Andover HS), Finn Power (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme HS) and Cole Duval (Tolland/Mount Everett HS).

 Burmester (2022 cross country), Deehan (2022 outdoor track) and Power (2022 indoor track) each received Academic All-Northeast-10 honors for the second time.

Burmester, whose grade point average as an accountancy and liberal studies major is just a shade under 4, finished fifth in the 800 meters at the Northeast-10 indoor championships with a time of 2:20.18. She also ran to seventh in the 800 at the New Englands.

Deehan, an economics-finance major, was fifth in the 800 at the conference championships (1:58.00) and was also part of the Falcons' 4x800 relay team that placed third in 7:48.37. During the New Englands, he was 18th in the 800 (1:58.67). Deehan, on Bentley's all-time indoor lists, ranks third in the 600 and ninth in the 800.

Chicko, who was also part of the 4x800 relay that finished third, ran to eighth place in the mile at the Northeast-10 Championships, finishing in 4:38.73. The information systems audit and control major also was 20th in the 800 at the New Englands with a 1:59.62.

Power, also an information systems audit and control major, finished right behind Chicko in the mile at the NE10's with a 4:45.41. He also ran a leg on the Falcons' distance medley relay that was sixth in 10:45.30.

Duval, a computer information systems major, ran the 5,000 at the conference championships, placing ninth in 15:59.55. Due to injuries and the pandemic, this was his first season of indoor competition.

Duval and Power both own GPAs of 3.9 or better, and Chicko and Deehan both are over 3.4.
