Rush & Garcia Finish 1-2 in Javelin at Merrimack Alumni Classic

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Bentley University freshmen Parker Rush (Rumford, R.I./LaSalle Academy) and Daimein Garcia (Providence, R.I./St. George's School) finished 1-2 in the javelin during the Merrimack Alumni Classic at Doane Stadium.

The large majority of the meet was held Saturday but the javelin was contested on Friday. Rush's best throw was 169 feet, 10 inches, and Garcia trailed at 165'11".

In the 400 meter hurdles, Bentley sophomore Alex Lawes (Brick, N.J./Brick HS) took second following a 56.41 second time. He trailed only Sean Faherty of Holy Cross, who turned in a 55.57, and moved to seventh on the Northeast-10 Conference performance list. Also in the hurdles, junior Evan Bean (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa HS) took fifth in 57.39.

Sophomore Sam Capobianco (North Reading/Phillips Andover HS) was fourth among 28 in the 1500 meters with his 3:39.65 six seconds fastest than his previous best and good for third on the NE10 performance list.

Junior Matt Chicko (North Andover/North Andover HS) also had a fourth-place finish after running the 800 in 1:58.82.

Junior Cole Duval (Tolland/Mount Everett HS) ran the 3,000 in 9:01.99, good for sixth among 16 runners.

Sophomores Andrew Goehrig (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) and Isaiah Decias (Ozone Park, N.Y./Hudson Catholic HS) each improved on their PR in the 200, with times of 23.08 and 23.31, respectively.

Next Saturday, Bentley will compete in the George Davis Invitational at UMass-Lowell.
