Men’s Tennis Drops First Match of Season to Southern N.H.
WALTHAM, Mass. – The men's tennis team dropped its first match of the 2023-24 season to Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday by a score of 6-1.
Bentley's record fell to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Northeast-10 and the Penmen improved to 2-1 both overall and in conference.
The Falcons won the doubles point behind victories in the No. 2 and 3 matches.
In No. 2, Christian Duffy and Max Bonte defeated Jonathan Berlind and Melvin Vix 6-4. In No. 3, it was Liam Marr and Ansh Chadha getting the better of Phillipp Roeder and Aron Ouwejan 6-4.
SNHU swept the singles matches but Bentley made it difficult on them.
The No. 4 match between Chadha and Vix went to three sets. The first two sets were split and both went to tiebreaks, before Vix took the deciding third set 10-8.
The No. 5 match between Duffy and Ouwejan went three sets as well. Ouwejan won the first set 6-2 and Duffy the second in a tiebreak 7-6, but Ouwejan emerged with the third set 6-2.
The other singles matches for Bentley had Max Bonte in No. 1, Gabe Horwitz in No. 2, Nikolai Pran in No. 3 and Diego Ramos in No. 6.
The Falcons' next match is Saturday at Saint Michael's.
