Le Moyne Stops Bentley’s Winning Streak, 7-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – Le Moyne College improved to 9-1 on the season with a 7-0 victory over Bentley on Saturday in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup.

The Dolphins improved to 3-0 in NE10 matches on the season. The Falcons, who came into the match with consecutive wins over Assumption and Stonehill, fell to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the NE10.

Le Moyne jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a sweep of the doubles matches, led by their No. 1 team of Ethan Miller and Tom Jarry.

The No. 2 match saw a battle between Bentley's Nikolai Pran (Oslo, Norway) and Gabe Horwitz (Lake Oswego, Ore.) and Le Moyne's Manuel Righi and Peter Halton, that Le Moyne's team won 6-4.

The No. 3 match went down to the wire, between Bentley's Liam Marr (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) and Tawan Rattaseri (Bangkok, Thailand) and Le Moyne's Alberto Diaz and Kacper Piekarek, with the Dolphins slipping by 7-6.

Two of the singles matches went to three sets. In No. 2, Bentley's Max Bonte (Bradenton, Fla./St. Stephen's) took the first set from Jarry 7-5, but Jarry rallied in the next two sets 6-3, 6-0.

The No. 3 match between Horwitz and Righi saw the two players split the opening sets. Righi took the first 6-0 and Horwitz the second 6-4. But Righi won the decisive third set, 6-3.

Bentley has a quick turnaround for its next match, which is on Sunday at Adelphi at 2:30 PM.
