Bentley Sweeps Ohio Northern 7-0 in Spring Break Opener

 

ORLANDO, Fla. – Bentley swept Ohio Northern 7-0 on Tuesday in the first match of its Florida spring break trip.

The Falcons improved to 3-2 on the season with the win over the Polar Bears, who compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Bentley's six competitors on the day all won in both doubles and singles.

The doubles results saw Max Bonte and Jordan Soifer defeat T.J. Schultz and Sam Sran 6-3, in No. 1. Gabe Horwitz and Nikolai Pran knocked off Drew Swisher and Peyton Specht 6-2 in No. 2. Liam Marr and Noah Monsanto got the better of Tristan Munteanu and Kavya Desai 6-3 in No. 3.

Four of the six singles matches were decided in three sets. Soifer defeated Munteanu in No. 1 (7-6, 6-7, 10-4) and Bonte defeated Specht in No. 2 (6-1, 3-6, 6-3).

Pran battled back from dropping the first set to defeat Desai in No. 4, 0-6, 6-1, 6-2. Monsanto was also a three sets winner in No. 6, over Nico Rogel (6-3, 2-6, 6-2).

Horwitz earned his second win of the day in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-4 over Sran and Marr defeated Swisher 6-2, 6-3 in No. 5.

The Falcons had Monday's match against Scranton postponed, which will not be made up. The next match of the trip is on Wednesday against St. Mary's (Texas) in Satellite Beach.
