Philadelphia, Pa. – Goals by seniors Colby Gould (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) in the first half and Matt Tidona (Bellmore, N.Y./Friends Academy) in the second half saw the Bentley men's soccer team pick up a 2-0 victory over Holy Family in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons improved to 1-1 on the young season and dealt the Tigers their first loss of the season in three matches.
Gould struck in the 26th minute to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Senior Julian Stewart (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro) had the assist. Bentley outshot the Tigers 11-5 overall in the first half and 6-1 in shots on goal.
Tidona pretty much put the game to bed with his goal in the 81st minute after he finished off a cross that was sent into the box by junior Connor Mote (Lisle, Ill./Benet).
In the second half, Bentley out shot Holy Family 10-5 overall and 4-2 in shots on goal.
Falcons keeper Nick Maldarella (Saint James, N.Y./St. John's) made three saves to earn the win.
Next up for Bentley is another non-conference match, Wednesday at Post, before they play the home and NE10 opener next Saturday against Saint Anselm.
