Falcons Set for NCAA Tournament Showdown at Saint Anselm

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second straight season Bentley earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship and on Wednesday the Falcons will travel up to Saint Anselm for a first-round game. Faceoff is set for 4:00 PM.

Last Sunday night the announcement was made during the selection show that the Falcons were headed back to the NCAA Championship, one year after they were selected for the first time in program history in 2023.

This year Bentley is the sixth seed in the North Region and Saint Anselm is the third seed.

The Falcons go into Wednesday's game with a 9-5 overall record and a national ranking of 14th from the USILA. They were defeated by Adelphi in the NE10 semifinals in their last game on May 1, but defeated Saint Michael's 15-6 in the NE10 first round on April 27.

A strong season was reflected by eight players getting named to the NE10 All-Conference teams. Kyle Piersiak, a three-time NE10 Defensive Player of the Week, was voted to the first team. Piersiak, along with Alex Parton, are both in the top-13 nationally in caused turnovers per game.

Parton, Nick Harvath, Jake Tyska and Nathan Alviti earned second team All-Conference honors. Leading scorer Conor Segreti and defensive stalwart Joseph Franzoso were voted to the third team.

The Hawks enter Wednesday's game at 10-4 overall and ranked 6th nationally. They defeated Pace in the NE10 semifinals before falling to Adelphi in the finals.

This will be the third matchup of the season between the two squads. They played in Waltham early in the season on March 1 in a non-conference game, with Bentley winning 13-11. Saint Anselm won the NE10 game, played in Manchester, 17-8 on March 30.

The winner will take on Mercy, the two seed in the North Region, on Sunday in the quarterfinals.

The other first round game in the North Region on Wednesday is the four seed Pace against the five seed Mercyhurst. That winner will face the top seed Adelphi in the quarterfinals.
