NE10 Playoffs Begin Saturday Night With 1st Round Home Matchup vs. Saint Michael’s

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley earned the 4th seed in the Northeast 10 Championship and will host the 5th seed Saint Michael's in a first round game on Saturday night at 7:00 PM.

Playoffs Are Set

The Falcons, ranked 13th nationally, went 8-4 in the regular season and 6-3 in the NE10. They've won five straight games, a streak that includes a 16-15 overtime victory against the Purple Knights up in Vermont on April 9.

Saint Michael's went 9-4 in the regular season and 6-3 in NE10 games. In this week's USILA poll, they received the most votes of teams outside the top-20.

The other first round game on Saturday pits the third seed Pace against the sixth seed Assumption.

Adelphi is the top seed and Saint Anselm is the second seed. Those teams will host semifinals games on May 1.

Renewed Acquaintances

These teams played an epic in the regular season just over two weeks ago. The Falcons won it 16-15 in overtime after trailing 14-12 with under six minutes left in regulation. Goals by Garrett Witt and Nicholas Thorn-Guillaro pulled the Falcons even to force OT.

In the extra session, David Gagnon scored as time expired in the first OT quarter to give Bentley the win. Thorn-Guillaro and Witt each had four goals to lead the offense.

Regional Rankings

Bentley is ranked 4th in the NCAA East Region rankings that were released on Wednesday.

Playoff History

Bentley is looking to at least replicate last season's run to the NE10 finals. They beat Adelphi 7-4 in the semifinals before falling to Le Moyne in the finals. That was Bentley's first trip to the finals since 1998.

The Falcons have three NE10 championships in program history, in 1995, 1996 and 1998.

Bentley and Saint Michael's have played three previous times in the NE10 playoffs, in 2003, 2005 and 2006.
