COLCHESTER, Vt. – David Gagnon scored just before the buzzer in overtime to give #14 Bentley a 16-15 win at Saint Michael's on Tuesday night.
Gagnon's goal was preceded by a defensive stop by the Falcons defense with under 30 seconds remaining. A ground ball pick by Joseph Franzoso and a shot from the other end of the field resulted in the Falcons having possession in their offensive end.
That set up to have Gagnon rifle in a shot just before the clock expired to give the Falcons a hard fought 16-15 victory on the road.
Bentley erased a 14-12 deficit with just over seven minutes left in regulation on goals by Garrett Witt and Nicholas Thorn-Guillaro.
The Purple Knights took the lead back with 4:414 remaining on a goal by Ethan Hughes. But with 2:33 remaining Witt knotted the game at 15-15 with a man-up goal.
The game featured nine ties and 10 lead changes.
Thorn-Guillaro and Witt each had four goals and Nick Harvath had a game-high five points.
Kyle Piersiak and Alex Parton each had a game-high three caused turnovers.
The Falcons improved to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the NE10 with the win. Their next game is on Sunday at Southern New Hampshire.
