Falcons Rally Late but Fall to Pace in 3OT, 11-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley staged a late rally in regulation but fell in triple overtime to Pace 11-10 in a battle of nationally ranked teams.

Played in a driving rain and wind storm the entire night, the 13th ranked Falcons and 11th ranked Setters fought back and forth on the turf field in Waltham.

The Falcons trailed 10-8 with under two minutes left in regulation. A goal by Jayce Lambert, his 5th of the night, with 1:53 remaining got Bentley to within one goal.

Pace won the ensuing faceoff, but a turnover and ground ball pickup by Kyle Piersiak with 53 seconds left gave the Falcons the ball back.

The ground ball was one of six on the night for Piersiak, to go along with four caused turnovers.

The Falcons called timeout with 40 seconds left to setup the final possession. A goal by Nick Harvath with 24 seconds remaining tied the score 10-10.

Neither team was able to score in the first two overtimes as the teams traded possessions.

In the third overtime Pace finally got the winning goal as a shot by Daniel Zabbia found the back of the net 1:14 in. The goal was Zabbia's 4th of the night.

The game featured seven lead changes and six ties.

The Falcons fall to 3-4 on the season and 1-3 in the NE10. Their next game is Saturday at home against Franklin Pierce.
