Hockey Set to Host Air Force this Weekend

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley will host Air Force this weekend for the second series of the season between the two programs. Friday's game is a 7:05 pm puck drop and Saturday's game gets underway at 5:30 pm.

 

Split Decision

These teams met in Colorado on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 and it was a split. Air Force took the first game in overtime 3-2 on a goal by Chris Hedden 45 seconds into OT. Arlo Merritt and Ryan Upson had the goals for Bentley, who outshot Air Force 24-16.

Bentley then rebounded with a 3-0 shutout the next night. Nicholas Grabko stopped 22 shots for his second shutout of the season. The goals were scored by Kellan Hjartarson, Stephen Castagna and Nick Bochen.

Bentley's 5-2 win at Army West Point on Tuesday night was the 11th time this season in 20 games that they have allowed two goals or fewer.

Coming into this weekend, the team ranks T-4th nationally in fewest goals allowed per game at 2.2. They are 4th in fewest shots allowed per game at 24.4.

 

Honors Roll In

Ethan Leyh was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week on Tuesday after his natural hat trick in the 4-3 victory over Union on Dec. 30. That was the the 2nd hat trick by a Falcon this season, joining A.J. Hodges on Nov. 10 against Niagara.

It's the first time since the 2015-16 season that Bentley has had more than one hat trick in a single season.

Goalie Nicholas Grabko was tabbed the AHA Goalie of the Month for December. He went 2-0 in two starts last month and posted a .941 save percentage and a 1.47 goals against average.

On the season the Channahon, Illinois native is 6-4 with a .917 save percentage and 2.12 GAA. He ranks 8th nationally in GAA and T-17th in save percentage.
