Hockey Begins 2024 with Trip to Army West Point Tuesday Night

WALTHAM, Mass. – Coming off a 4-3 overtime win against Union to close out 2023, Bentley begins 2024 with a trip to Army West Point on Tuesday night for its first Atlantic Hockey game since Dec. 2. Puck drop is set for 7:05 PM at Tate Rink.

A Look at the Standings

Bentley comes into Tuesday's game in 7th in the AHA standings with 16 points, with a 5-6 record. The last conference games they played were Dec. 1-2 at Air Force. Those games saw the Falcons lose 3-2 in overtime and win 3-0.

The Falcons are done with non-conference games after Saturday's 4-3 win over Union. The schedule sees them play 15 conference games the rest of the way. Following Tuesday's encounter, Bentley is back at home this weekend to host Air Force on Jan. 5-6.

Leyh's Hat Trick

Senior Ethan Leyh netted a hat trick in the win over Union. It was a natural hat trick as he scored three straight goals. The goals came at 7:18 and 9:23 of the 1st period and 9:00 of the 2nd period.

It was the second hat trick by a Falcon this season. A.J. Hodges had the first, on Nov. 10 in a 6-2 win over Niagara.

That marks the first time since the 2015-16 season that Bentley has had more than one hat trick in a single season. Andrew Gladiuk had two hat tricks that season.

Series History

The all-time series between the Falcons and Black Knights is 33-35-15. The teams played four times last season. Army swept at home on Nov. 18-19 by scores of 2-0 and 5-2. They split at Bentley Arena on the final weekend of the regular season with Army winning 5-3 and Bentley taking the second game 5-4 in OT.

The series between Bentley and Army dates back to the 1981-82 season.
