SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Nik Armstrong-Kingkade scored his fifth goal of the season, and Sam Duerr notched his fourth goal, but the Bentley hockey team lost at American International, 4-2, Tuesday night.
The Falcons took a 1-0 lead 6:42 into the game on Armstrong-Kingkade's goal.
From the top of the blue line, Garrett Horsager swung a pass down to Chase Davis, who then made a quick pass to Armstrong-Kingkade in front of the goal. Armstrong-Kingkade beat the AIC goalie with a strong touch to give Bentley a 1-0 lead.
Just a few minutes later, the Falcons went on the powerplay and converted to take a 2-0 lead. Bentley's Ethan Leyh won a faceoff to the left of the Yellowjacket goalkeeper, and after a tussle the puck was brought back out to Sam Duerr on the blue line by Stephen Castagna. Duerr glided toward the net and then snapped a shot into the back of the net for a 2-0 Bentley lead.
The Yellow Jackets though pulled a goal back before the period ended off the stick off Tomi Leppanen to make it a 2-1 game.
AIC scored 44 seconds into the 2nd period to tie the game with a goal by John Lundy on a breakaway after a bad bounce into Bentley's offensive zone led to the breakout.
The Yellow Jackets took a 3-2 lead with a power play goal by Julius Janhonen at the 5:52 mark of the 2nd on a one-timer from above the right faceoff circle.
AIC's fourth goal came early in the third frame, from Alex Malinowski at 1:37.
The Falcons are on the road Friday, Nov. 24, to take on UMass Lowell at 4 p.m.
