Soderquist Stepping Down as Head Hockey Coach

WALTHAM, Mass. - After 26 years at Bentley University, as a student-athlete and then as head hockey coach, Ryan Soderquist announced he will leave the program on June 30, 2023. "It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the head coach of the Bentley Falcons hockey program," said Soderquist. "I am immensely proud of everything we've achieved."

A three-time Coach of the Year (Atlantic Hockey, 2009 & 2012; MAAC, 2003), Soderquist is the winningest coach in program history. He is one of just 18 active NCAA coaches to have surpassed the 250-win milestone. Over the course of 21 years on the bench, Soderquist helped build the Falcons from a fledgling Division I program into an Atlantic Hockey contender.

"I would like to express my deepest appreciation and admiration for the outstanding coaches, trainers, staff, players and alumni. They have been an integral part of my journey at Bentley," Soderquist noted. "I am equally grateful for the unwavering support of my family, friends, daughters, Cora and Madelyn, and most importantly my loving wife Jessica, who has been by my side through this incredible journey."

"I have had the pleasure of watching Coach Soderquist grow as player and as head coach," shared vice president for Student Affairs, J. Andrew Shepardson. "I appreciate everything he has done to grow the program and I wish him and his family the very best. I am confident Bentley Falcons hockey will thrive long into the future thanks to Coach Soderquist."

Soderquist added, "I leave Bentley with a heart full of gratitude and memories that will last a lifetime. I will forever bleed blue and black."

A national search for a replacement will begin immediately.
