Niemo Named Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Month for January

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's Nicholas Niemo (Middlebury, Vt.) was named the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Month for January, the conference announced on Tuesday.

In eight games in January, Niemo led Atlantic Hockey in both assists (9) and points (13) during the month. He scored four goals, which was tied for the second most on the team.

The Vermont native has a seven-game points streak going into February. The streak began on Jan. 7 against RIT and is the longest such streak by a Falcon so far this season.

He was twice named the AHA Rookie of the Week in January. The first time was on Jan. 16 after he had six points in Bentley's sweep of Niagara. The second time was on Monday after he scored two goals in the team's 5-3 win at Mercyhurst last weekend.

On the season he is up to six goals and 12 assists for 18 points, which leads the team in both assists and points.

Niemo is the second Falcon this season to be named the AHA Rookie of the Month. Goalie Connor Hasley earned the award for October.
