Last Time Out: Bentley earned two points with a shootout win (1-0) over Canisius last Saturday at Bentley Arena after the game ended in a 2-2 tie. After a scoreless first period, the Falcons went ahead 2-0 with a pair of goals in the 2nd period from freshmen Arlo Merritt and Nicholas Niemo. Canisius rallied with two goals in the 3rd period to send the game to overtime tied 2-2.

Bentley then won the shootout 1-0. Senior Lucas Vanroboys scored for Bentley in the first round and goalie Connor Hasley made saves in all three rounds. Hasley made a season high 42 saves in regulation and overtime.

Scoring Streaks: Arlo Merritt has scored a goal in three straight games, the longest such streak by a Bentley player this season. The streak began in Bentley's 6-1 win over Niagara on Jan. 14 when he scored the game's first goal. He then scored in both games last weekend against Canisius.

Nicholas Niemo has a five-game points streak going. Niemo has amassed 10 points on two goals and eight assists during the streak, which began against RIT on Jan. 7. Niemo was named the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week on Jan. 16 after he had six points in the sweep of Niagara.

Niemo now leads the team in both assists (11) and points (15) on the season.

Series History: Bentley is making its first visit to Mercyhurst this weekend since Jan. 24-25, 2020. Bentley swept that series by scores of 4-3 and 7-4. Last season the Falcons swept the only series between the teams at Bentley Arena by scores of 4-3 and 3-1.

In the first game of that series, Danny Pearson scored two goals and Matt Gosiewski and Dylan Pitera also scored. In the second game, Eric Linell and Harrison Scott were among the goal scorers for Bentley.

Bentley has played just six games at Mercyhurst since the start of the 2014-15 season.

The Falcons have won 5 straight games in the series, but Mercyhurst leads the all-time series 38-23-8.

Up Next: Bentley is back at home next weekend on Feb. 3 & 4 against Holy Cross.
