Pearson Named AHA Player of the Week; Niemo Rookie of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – After the sweep of Niagara over the weekend, two Bentley hockey student-athletes were honored by Atlantic Hockey. Sophomore Danny Pearson (Vancouver, B.C.) was named the Player of the Week and freshman Nicholas Niemo (Middlebury, Vt.) was tabbed as the Rookie of the Week.

Pearson had four goals in the two games, with a hat trick in Friday's 6-3 victory. He scored twice in the second period as part of a four-goal period for the Falcons, which helped them erase an early 2-0 deficit.

He then added a power play goal in the third period, the team's sixth goal of the night.

That was the first hat trick by a Bentley player since Jonathan Desbiens against Army West Point on Feb. 7, 2020.

In Saturday's 6-1 victory Pearson scored a power play goal in the second frame to give the Falcons a 2-0 edge.

Niemo was Bentley's leading scorer on the weekend with six points, on one goal and five assists.

He notched one goal and three assists in Saturday's win. That followed him having two assists on Friday.

Niemo's line of he and fellow freshmen Arlo Merritt and Stephen Castagna created four of the team's 12 goals in the series.

Bentley is back at home this weekend when they host Canisius on Friday at 7:05 PM and Saturday at 4:05 PM.
