Bentley Falls to RIT 3-0 in Series Opener

WALTHAM, Mass. – RIT scored three goals in the third period to pull away late for a 3-0 victory over Bentley in the series opener between the two teams on Friday night at Bentley Arena.

The game was scoreless after the first two periods and 40 minutes of action. Falcons goaltender Nicholas Grabko (Channahon, Ill.) had 21 saves through two frames and RIT's Tommy Scarfone had 19.

RIT though got on the board at 4:10 of the 3rd period on a goal by Tyler Mahan. Mahan had an initial shot from the left faceoff circle blocked that caused the puck to go behind the net. Grabko made a save on a shot from close range by Elijah Gonsalves, but Mahan scored off the rebound at the top of the crease.

Just over two minutes later the Tigers made it 2-0 on a goal by Cody Laskosky. Laskosky tipped in a shot in front of the net from defenseman Xavier Lapointe that came from inside the blue line. The goal was initially chalked off for a high-stick, but RIT challenged and got the call overturned and the goal awarded.

RIT then made it 3-0 at the 12:29 mark on a goal by Grady Hobbs, six 6th of the season.

Scarfone finished the night with 29 saves and Grabko made 29 saves as well.

Bentley will go for the series split when these teams take the ice on Saturday afternoon at 4:05 PM.
