Bentley Returns to Action on Friday Night to Host Northeastern

GAME NOTES

The Matchup: Bentley returns from the semester break on Friday night when they host the Northeastern Huskies at Bentley Arena. Puck drop in Waltham is set for 7:05 PM.

Friday's game will be the final non-conference game of the season for the Falcons. It will be the second to last for the Huskies, who play Harvard on New Year's Day.

The Falcons were last in action on Dec. 1 and 2 when they dropped a home-and-home series to AIC. Northeastern last played on Dec. 18 with a 4-3 road win over LIU.

Friday's game will be the 13th all-time meeting between the two programs.

Series History: Northeastern has a slight edge in the all-time series at 6-4-2. The last meeting was the season opener of the 2021-22 season.

Bentley has never hosted Northeastern at Bentley Arena, but did host several games in Watertown. The last time was Jan. 5, 2018 in a 3-3 tie. The Falcons swept a home and home series in 2015-16. They won at home 3-2 on Oct. 16, 2015, then won at Matthews Arena 4-1 the following night.

Bentley's other wins in the series came in 2012-13 by a 6-3 score and 2010-11 by a 2-1 score, both at Northeastern.

History vs. Hockey East: In addition to their four wins all-time vs. Northeastern, Bentley has nine other wins against Hockey East schools for a total of 13, since the 2008-09 season. Those other nine wins have come against Maine twice, including 5-1 earlier this season, UNH (2), Boston College (2), UMass-Lowell, Boston University and UMass.

On the Doorstep of 100: Senior forward Matt Gosiewski is one game away from hitting the 100 career games played milestone. Senior Lucas Vanroboys is four games away.

Graduate student Dylan Pitera is at 136 career games played, which is second most among active players in Atlantic Hockey. If he plays in all 17 remaining regular season games, he will tie the program record for career games played of 153, held by Kyle Schmidt '18.

Where They Rank: As the second half of the season begins, sophomore Harrison Scott leads Atlantic Hockey in faceoff winning percentage at .613. He is 136-222 so far.

Scott leads the team with six goals, which is tied for 11th in Atlantic Hockey.

Defenseman Nick Bochen leads the team in both assists, with seven, and points, with 11.

Freshman Pat Lawn leads the team with 20 blocked shots, in just 12 games.

Up Next: Bentley returns to Atlantic Hockey action next weekend on Jan. 6 and 7 when they host the RIT Tigers for two games.
