Grabko Makes 37 Saves in Bentley’s 3-1 Win over Sacred Heart

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Junior goalie Nicholas Grabko (Channahon, Ill.) made 37 saves to lead the Bentley hockey team to a 3-1 victory over Sacred Heart on the road on Friday night.

Grabko has now allowed just one goal in each of his last three starts; at Air Force on Nov. 11, at Army West Point on Nov. 18 and tonight.

He had 29 stops after two periods, with 12 in the first frame and 17 in the 2nd. He then made eight saves in the 3rd period to help close out the victory.

The goals came from Josh Latta (West Vancouver, B.C.) and Harrison Scott (San Jose, Calif.) in the first period and Cole Kodsi (Boca Raton, Fla.) in the 3rd period.

Latta's goal at 10:09 of the first period came after he won an offensive zone faceoff and played the puck back to defenseman Jordan Schulting (Penticton, B.C.). Schulting fired a shot that went off the boards behind the net, and Latta was there at the front of the net to score off the rebound.

Exactly three minutes later Scott's 4th goal of the season made it 2-0.

Latta won the puck off an SHU defender behind their net and fed a pass to Matt Gosiewski (Stamford, Conn.) on the right faceoff dot. Gosiewski then fed Scott in front, whose first shot was saved by goalie Luke Lush but Scott scored on his second attempt.

Sacred Heart scored the only goal of the 2nd period off the stick of Todd Goehring at the 16:04 mark. But Grabko stopped 17 other shots by the Pioneers to preserve Bentley's lead going into the final period.

Kodsi then gave Bentley a 3-1 lead at 6:50 of the 3rd period with his 4th goal of the year.

He made a steal off an SHU player behind their net and fired a quick shot past Lush on the near side for the goal.

Grabko then made four more saves over the final 13 minutes to secure the win.

Bentley will go for the sweep tomorrow at 1:05 PM.
