Evenson Makes 33 Saves to Lead Army West Point Past Bentley

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point goalie Justin Evenson made 33 saves to lead the Black Knights past Bentley 2-0 on Friday night at Tate Rink.

The Falcons outshot Army 33-22 on the night, but Evenson came up with each save to lead his team to the victory.

Falcons goalie Nicholas Grabko (Channahon, Ill.) stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced for a .952 save percentage.

The Falcons put 12 shots on Evenson in the 1st frame but the senior from Minnetonka, Minnesota was equal to the task.

After a scoreless first period, defenseman Anthony Firriolo scored a power play goal at 1:20 of the 2nd period with a wrist shot from just inside the blue line to give Army a 1-0 lead.

Grabko came off for an extra-attacker with 1:18 remaining in the game as the Falcons pushed for the tying goal. Evenson came up with saves on shots by Nicholas Niemo (Middlebury, Vt.) and Harrison Scott (San Jose, Calif.) before Army's Ricky Lyle scored an empty net goal with 35 seconds remaining to make the score 2-0.

Bentley outshot Army 14-4 in the final 20 minutes of the contest.

These same two teams will play the second game of the series on Saturday night at 7:05 PM.
