Bentley Rolls Past Air Force 5-1

USAFA, Colo. – Defenseman Nick Bochen (North Vancouver, B.C.) scored two goals and Nicholas Grabko (Channahon, Ill.) made 31 saves to help Bentley to a 5-1 victory over Air Force on Friday night in the series opener between the two teams at Cadet Ice Arena.

Bentley led 1-0 after just 42 seconds when captain Dylan Pitera (Culver, Indiana) scored a power play goal.

The Falcons scored three goals in less than five minutes and four goals in the first 10 minutes to lead 4-0.

Junior Ethan Harrison (Plano, Texas) scored at 2:14 on a tip-in off a shot by defenseman Seth Bernard-Docker (Canmore, Alberta) for a 2-0 lead. Bochen then scored less than two minutes later with a shot from the top of the left face-off circle to make it 3-0.

It became 4-0 when senior Joe Winkelmann (St. Louis, Mo.) lit the lamp just before the midway point. Nicholas Niemo (Middlebury, Vt.) pounced on an Air Force turnover in Bentley's offensive zone and hit Winkelmann with a quick pass, who one-timed his shot from the right face-off circle.

Bochen scored his second of the game on the power play in the 2nd period with just 30 seconds left with a slap shot blast from the point to give the Falcons a 5-0 lead.

Grabko made 16 saves in the 2nd frame and he also helped Bentley's penalty kill go 3-3 in that period. Grabko added fives in the 3rd period to finish the game off.

These same two teams will play again on Saturday night as Bentley will go for the sweep. Faceoff is at 10:07 eastern.
