Bentley won the first game 2-1 behind 39 saves from goalie Nicholas Grabko. Bentley scored just 1:35 into the game, then took a 2-0 lead on a goal by Cooper Connell just 28 seconds into the second period. That goal came in Connell's first NCAA game.

The Buckeyes then won the second game of the series 7-1.

The first series between these teams took place during the 2008-09 season in Columbus. That was a sweep by OSU by scores of 10-1 and 3-2 in OT.

The only other Big Ten team Bentley has played before is Michigan, for two games in 2011-12 and one game in 2012-13.
