Pitera and Walter Named Bentley Hockey Captains; Winkelmann and Kodsi Assistant Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – Graduate student Dylan Pitera (Culver, Indiana) and senior Marcus Walter (St. Albert, Alberta) have been named captains of the Bentley hockey team, head coach Ryan Soderquist announced on Friday. Senior Joe Winkelmann (St. Louis, Mo.) and junior Cole Kodsi (Boca Raton, Fla.) will be the assistant captains.

Pitera was one of Bentley's leading scorers last season with 20 points, on seven goals and 13 assists, which set career highs for him in all three categories. He's the program's active leader in career games played with 119 entering the season.

He is currently pursuing his MBA at Bentley after earning his undergraduate degree in finance.

Walter, a defenseman, was an assistant captain last season for the Falcons. A big psychical presence on the blue line, he's consistently been among the team leaders in blocked shots in his three previous seasons.

He is a finance major, with a minor in law. He's been named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team twice.

Winkelmann has been a valuable contributor in his time with the program on and off the ice. Playing center, he's consistently a team leader in faceoff winning percentage.

An excellent student who majors in economics-finance, he's been named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team three years in a row.

Kodsi had a breakout sophomore season in 2021-22. He tied for the team lead in goals with 10 and was second on the team in points with 23 and tied for third in assists with 13.

He is a management major and was named to the AHA All-Academic team last season.

The Falcons get the season started next Saturday at Boston University.
