Bentley Drops Series Opener to Air Force 4-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – Visiting Air Force scored twice in the 2nd period and once late in the 3rd period in a 4-1 victory over Bentley University on Friday night.

Bentley largely had the better of the first period and had three power play chances, but it was a build-up of pressure by Air Force in the offensive zone towards the end of the period that led to them getting the game's first goal. Bentley goalie Evan DeBrouwer (Blenheim, Ontario) stopped two shots by Air Force, then made another save from a shot by Air Force's Mitchell Digby from the top of the left face-off circle, but Nate Horn was there to score off the rebound.

Bentley though tied the game at 4:50 of the 2nd period on sophomore Cole Kodsi's (Boca Raton, Fla.) 7th goal of the season. Dylan Pitera (Culver, Ind.) and Luke Orysiuk (Edmonton, Alberta) helped win a battle for the puck behind Air Force's net and the puck popped out to Kodsi. Kodsi then made a wrap-around move to beat Air Force goalie Alex Schilling to light the lamp and tie the game.

Air Force though would score twice before the 2nd period ended. Austin Schwartz scored in front off a rebound from a shot by Brian Adams at 13:19 to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. Less than three minutes later Bennett Norlin scored a short-handed goal at the 16:03 mark to make it a 3-1 game.

Bentley pushed to tie the game in the 3rd period, but it was Air Force that got the period's only goal, off the stick of Nate Horn at the 16:48 mark to put them in front 4-1.

Schilling finished the night with 29 saves to earn the win in goal for Air Force, while DeBrouwer made 28 stops.

Bentley will go for the series split tomorrow at 4:05 PM
