Bentley Finishes 5th in Northeast-10 Championships; Picard Cracks Top 10

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Strong final round performances by senior Timothy Picard (Dracut/Lowell Catholic HS), junior Nelson Eaton (Groton, Vt./St. Johnsbury Acad.) and sophomore Zach Stewart (Pembroke/Duxbury HS) helped the Bentley University Falcons finish fifth in the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Golf Championships, which concluded Tuesday at the Twin Hills Country Club. A total of ten teams participated.

All three had their best round of the 54-hole tournament Tuesday. Picard posted an even-par 71, Eaton recorded a 74 and Stewart climbed ten rungs in the final standings with a two-over 73. All three had three birds during the round, including all three on the par-four, 378-yard eighth hole.

Picard finished tenth overall (75-74-71-220), Eaton tied for 18th with a 76-75-74-225) and Stewart tied for 26th with an 83-73-73-231. Right behind Stewart, in 28th, was freshman Andrew teDuits (Charlestown/Boston College HS), with a 76-76-80-232.

Picard wrapped up the fall season with a 73.8 stroke average, besting Stewart by a tenth-of-a-stroke.

Adelphi University ended Assumption University's two-year reign as conference championships by five strokes, 866-871, and Saint Anselm took third with an 880.

Assumption's Sean Magarian posted a four-under 67 over the final round to earn individual honors by three strokes over Adelphi's Filip Wetterqvist.
