Bentley Finishes Day 1 of NE10 Championships in 6th Place

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – The Bentley University Falcons finished day one of the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Golf Championships in sixth place with a score of 600 after posting back-to-back 300's Monday at the Twin Hills Country Club.

The Falcons were led by senior co-captain Timothy Picard (Dracut/Lowell Catholic HS), who finished the day in a tie for 15th with a 75-74-149. Picard had a total of eight birdies, including five during his second round. He twice birdied the par-four 403-yard second hole and the par-four 417-yard fifth hole, the 11th and 14th holes he played in each round.

Bentley's number two man was junior Nelson Eaton (Groton, Vt./St. Johnsbury Acad.), who finished the day tied for 21st with a 76-75-151. His 25 pars was tied for the second most in the 10-team, 50-player field.

Freshman Andrew teDuits (Charlestown/Boston College HS) followed in 23rd after a 76-76-152, and senior Jake Napoli (Plantsville, Conn./Southington HS) will be tied for 31st when play resumes Tuesday morning. He had Bentley's best round of the day, a two-over 73 to start.

Adelphi University (576) leads two-time defending champion Assumption University (582) by six strokes in the battle for the crown, and the individual leader is Adelphi's Filip Wetterqvist, with a one-under 71-70-141. Assumption's Sean Magarian finished the day one stroke back with a 70-72-142.

The championship will conclude Tuesday with the start scheduled for 9 am.
