Bentley Finishes Day 1 of Hartford Hawks Invitational in 3rd Place
BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – Led by senior Jake Napoli (Plantsville, Conn./Southington HS) and junior Nelson Eaton (Groton, Vt./St. Johnsbury Acad.), the Bentley University men's golf team finished day one of the Hartford Hawks Invitational Monday third among five teams.
Bentley, with a score of 297 in its season debut, trails the University of Hartford (291) and Fordham University (292) at the tourney's midpoint
Napoli, in his first action as a collegian, finished the day tied for fifth in a field of 31 after shooting a one-over 73 on the Tumble Brook Golf Course. Eaton was a stroke back, good for a tie for sixth.
Napoli birdied three holes and Eaton, in an up-and-down performance, had four birds and six bogeys.
Bentley's entire lineup shot 76 or better with senior Aidan Stuart (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) and sophomore Zach Stewart (Pembroke/Duxbury HS) both tied for eighth with a 75 and senior Timothy Picard (Dracut/Lowell Catholic HS) tied for 15th with a 76.
The midpoint leader is Fordham's Jake Mrva, who fired a six-under 66. Hartford's Mike Amari finished the day in second, four back with a two-under 70.
The tournament will conclude on Tuesday.
