Bentley Finishes Day 1 of NCAA Regional Preview in 21st
LEBANON, Pa. – Day one of the two-day NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Preview was held Monday at the 7,026-yard Iron Valley Golf Club with the Bentley University men's golf team finishing the round in 21st place. A total of 25 teams participated.
Among East Region teams, Bentley was tenth of 11 teams with a score of 321.
The Falcons' top golfer was senior Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS). He shot a five-over 77 to tie for 39th place in a field of 132. Walter's only birdie came on the par-five, 588-yard 13th hole. He started the day on the 11th and was at even par through 15 holes.
Next for the Falcons was junior Timothy Picard (Dracut, Mass./Lowell Catholic HS), who tied for 46th. He also started strong, two-under through 10 holes, including birds on the par-five 16th and the par-four 18th.
Gannon's Giovanni Delorenzi has a three-stroke lead after firing a four-under 68.
St. Thomas Aquinas College is the team leader at the tournament's midpoint after shooting a 299. Gannon University, Le Moyne College and Post University are all two strokes back.
The tournament will conclude on Tuesday.
