Bentley Finishes Saint Anselm Hawk Invitational in 6th Place

CANDIA, N.H. – After beginning the day in fourth place, the Bentley University men's golf team dropped two places during Tuesday's action and finished the Saint Anselm Hawk Invitational in sixth place at the Candia Woods Golf Links. A total of ten teams competed in the two-day event.

Bentley, after posting a 301 Monday, struggled to a 318 second-round score and finished with a 619. The Falcons, who were 11th in the latest NCAA Division II East Region rankings, trailed sixth-ranked Franklin Pierce University (590), fourth-ranked Post University (603), 10th-ranked Dominican University (604), third-ranked Assumption University (605) and unranked Saint Anselm (607).

The top individual for the Falcons were sophomores Nelson Eaton (Groton, Vt./St. Johnsbury Acad.) and Bennett Berg (Portland, Maine/Portland HS). Both tied for 13th in a field57 with a 10-over 152. Eaton had a 75-77 and Berg turned in a 74-78.

Next for the Falcons was senior Kevin Lynch (Haddam, Conn./Xavier HS), who tied for 18th with a 73-80-153.

The tournament medalist was Peter Wurszl of Franklin Pierce, with a three-over 145. He bested both teammate Michael Sosik and Assumption's Mason Gilman by a single stroke.

Bentley will wrap up the regular season next Monday and Tuesday with the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Preview, which will be hosted by Pennsylvania Western-California at the Iron Valley Golf Club in Cornwall, Pa.
