Walter, Desjardins Lead Bentley During Season-Opening Trojan

GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Senior Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) and sophomore Evan Desjardins (Salem, N.H./Salem HS) were the highest finishers for the Bentley University golf team during the Trojan, which concluded Tuesday at the Willow Creek Country Club.

Walter finished the 54-hole tournament in a tie for 14th at seven-over-par with a 72-74-77-223. On Tuesday, during a final round 77, he birdied the par-3 181-yard ninth hole and the par-5 512-yard 17th hole.

Desjardins tied for 20th in the 60-player field as he turned in a 76-72-77-225. He also had two birdies during the final round, the 17th and the par-3 191-yard third.

As a team, Bentley was ninth out of ten with a score of 303-295-315-913 in its first action of the spring.

Mount Olive's B team earned the championship by 23 points over second place Indiana (Pa.), 858-891. The tournament medalist was Rasmus Ronnberg, with a six-under 71-70-69-210. St. Thomas Aquinas' Nolan Skaggs took second with a five-under 211.

Next Monday and Tuesday, Bentley will be at the Springfield Country Club for the American International Yellowjacket Invitational.
