Bentley Finishes NCAA Regional with Best Performance of Tournament

VICTOR, N.Y. – The Bentley University golf team had its best day of the tournament as the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional drew to a close Saturday at the Ravenwood Golf Club.

Led by junior Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS), Bentley turned in a final round 302 and finished with a three-day score of 926. The Falcons, who were making their 11th straight appearance in the regional, finished 19th overall.

Walter carded his second even-par 72 of the tournament and finished in a tie for 42nd with a 72-82-72-226. He birdied four holes, including the par-four 16th and the par-five 18th.

Bentley's day three scores included a 74 from senior co-captain Matt Mackin (Westwood, Mass./Westwood HS) and a 76 from junior Kevin Lynch (Haddam, Conn./Xavier HS).

Lynch was the Falcons' number two finisher in the tournament, tying for 61st with a 76-78-76-230.

St. Thomas Aquinas captured the regional championship with an 881 and qualified for the nationals along with Charleston, Gannon and Davis & Elkins.

The medalist was Davis & Elkins' Jordan Hyland, with a 73-70-70-213. He won by three strokes over Charleston's Mitch Hoffman and STAC's Nolan Skaggs.
