Bentley Receives 11th Straight Bid to NCAA East/Atlantic Golf Regional

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the 11th straight time, the field for the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Men's Golf Regional will include the Bentley University Falcons. The Falcons have been tabbed every year since 2010, with the exception of 2020 when the pandemic forced cancellation of the championships, and received word of their latest selection Friday afternoon.

The East and Atlantic regional championships will be held jointly at the Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor, N.Y. May 5-7. The top four teams from each super regional and the top two individuals not with a qualifying team will advance to the finals May 16-20 at TPC Michigan in Dearborn, Mich.

Bentley, which has been coached by Kevin Daly on an interim basis this spring, was one of eight at-large selections and was the number eight seed from the East Region following a season that included a tie for second in the Battle at the Beech and a third-place finish earlier this week in American International's Yellow Jackets Invitational. The Falcons also finished fifth in the Northeast-10 Championships last fall.

The automatic qualifiers in the East Region were Assumption University, as the Northeast-10 Conference champion, and Wilmington University, from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

The other at-large selections from the East were Goldey-Beacom College, Franklin Pierce University, Le Moyne College, Post University, Saint Anselm College, St. Thomas Aquinas College and top-seeded Southern New Hampshire University.

Six of the teams are from the Northeast-10 Conference, three are from the CACC and STAC will represent the East Coast Conference.

The ten teams out of the Atlantic Region include automatic qualifiers University of Charleston (Mountain East), Indiana University of Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) and Livingstone College (Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference).

Three current Bentley players – senior captains Ryan Daly (Beverly/Beverly HS) and Matt Mackin (Westwood/Westwood HS) and junior Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) – were part of last year's Falcon contingent that tied for fourth in the East/Atlantic regional. Sophomore transfer Aidan Stuart (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) also participated in last year's regional as a freshman at St. Michael's.

This season, Bentley's top stroke averages, among players who participated in at least 50 percent of the rounds, belong to Walter (75.5) and junior Kevin Lynch (Haddam, Conn./Xavier HS) (77.6).

The NCAA berth is Bentley's 16th in the last 20 years.
