Bentley Closes Out Regular Season with 3rd Place Finish at AIC

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – In its final tournament of the regular season, the Bentley University golf team finished third in the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by American International College at the Ledges Golf Club.

Bentley, ranked ninth in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region rankings, turned in a 312 during Tuesday's action and finished with a 302-314-614. The Falcons finished behind Post University (599) and Franklin Pierce (603).

The Falcons were led by junior Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) and senior Matt Mackin (Westwood/Westwood HS), both of whom tied for eighth place in the 60-player field with 36-hole scores of 152.

Walter posted back-to-back four-over 76s, and Mackin, who had seven birdies during the two-day event, followed Monday's 75 with a 77.

Next on the leaderboard for Bentley was sophomore Aidan Stuart (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS), who shot a second-round 75 and tied for 18th with a 155.

Also for the Falcons, senior Ryan Daly (Beverly) tied for 22nd (75-81-156) and freshman Bennett Berg (Portland, Maine/Portland HS) tied for 24th (79-78-157). Berg was the most consistent Falcon with 23 pars.

Medalist honors were shared by two players from Post, Ethan Phillips and Riley Card. Both were four-over for the tournament with a 148.

On Friday, the field for the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional will be announced and Bentley hopes it will be one of ten East Region teams selected.
