Bentley Ties for 18th in NCAA Regional Preview

VICTOR, N.Y. – The Bentley University golf team tied for 18th place, in a field of 23, during the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Preview, which concluded Monday at the Ravenwood Golf Club. Ravenwood will be the site of next month's NCAA Division II Superregional tournament.

The Falcons shot a second-round 311 and finished the two-day event with a 629 score. They were ten strokes out of the top ten and were ninth among East Region teams.

Bentley's top golfer was senior co-captain Matt Mackin (Westwood, Mass./Westwood HS). He fired a four-over 76 Monday and finished in a tie for 33rd with a 154 36-hole total of 154. Mackin recorded a team-best six birdies during the tournament.

Next on the list for the Falcons was sophomore Aidan Stuart (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS). He had a second-round 77 and tied for 57th among 116 golfers with an 80-77-157.

Davis & Elkins College captured the team championship by 16 strokes over Charleston with a team score of 595. D&E's Jordan Hyland earned medalist honors with a one-under 73-70-143. His margin of victory was one stroke over day one leader Alex Easthorn (West Liberty).

Bentley will close out the regular season next Monday and Tuesday at the American International's Yellow Jacket Invitational in West Springfield.
