VICTOR, N.Y. – On a day in which no team was able to break 300, the Bentley University golf team finished the opening round of the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Preview 17^th among 23 teams.

The Falcons, seventh in the East in the most recent rankings, turned in a 318 and will be six strokes out of the top ten when second round play gets underway Monday morning. Among East Region teams, Bentley finished the day in eighth place.

Senior co-captain Matt Mackin (Westwood, Mass./Westwood HS) set the pace for the Falcons with his six-over 78 putting him in a tie for 44^th.

Three other Falcons turned in an 80 and are tied for 64^th  They are senior co-captain Ryan Daly (Beverly, Mass./Beverly HS), junior Kevin Lynch (Haddam, Conn./Xavier HS) and sophomore Aidan Stuart (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS).

At the top of the team leaderboard are three teams from the East region. Davis & Elkins College, after a 301, leads West Liberty by one and West Chester by two.

Individually, West Liberty's Alex Easthorn shot an opening round 68 and will begin Monday's action with a five-stroke lead.
