Laput & Leritz Selected for NABC All-District Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior guard Zach Laput (Beacon Falls, Conn./Notre Dame JS) and graduate forward Matt Leritz (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University HS), a duo who helped the Bentley University Falcons to a 23-7 record and the NCAA Division II East Regional championship game, have been selected for 2022-23 NABC Division II All-East honors by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Laput was a first-team selection and Leritz received second-team honors.

Laput, the D2CCA East Region and Northeast-10 Player of the Year, had an outstanding season for the Falcons as he averaged 20.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and one steal. The conference's leading scorer and one of 11 Division II players on the Bevo Francis Top 25 Watch List shot 54 percent overall, 41 percent from three and 83 percent from the line while getting to the stripe 156 times.

Laput, who boosted his scoring average more than five points a game over last year's 14.8, finished his second season of collegiate game action with 1055 career points and a 17.6 average. He's played on teams that have won 48 of 60 games, including five of seven in the NCAA tournament.

Leritz, a second-team All-Northeast-10 honoree in his only Bentley season, produced 13.8 points and 9.1 rebounds a game while shooting 56 percent from the field and 40 percent from the line. He finished the year second in the conference in rebounds and third in field goal percentage.

Leritz, an Illinois Wesleyan transfer who recently received College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honors for the third time, finished his collegiate career with 1,424 points, 865 rebounds and a .563 field goal percentage in 116 games. Last year, his list of accolades included first-team NABC Division III All-America.

Bentley was one of only two East Region teams to have a pair of selections, a distinction they shared with Saint Anselm College
