Leritz Receives CSC Academic All-America Honors for the 3rd Time

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University graduate transfer Matt Leritz (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University HS) has earned Academic All-America® honors for the third time in his career.

Leritz received the latest award on Tuesday when he was selected for the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Division II Men's Basketball Academic All-America second team

Leritz was previously a two-time first-team Division III Academic All-America while at Illinois Wesleyan University and was the Division III Academic All-America of the Year last year.

In his only Bentley season, the six-foot-six forward is averaging 13.9 points and 9.2 rebounds for a Falcon team that will take a 23-6 record into tonight's NCAA Division II East Regional championship game against the University of New Haven at Saint Anselm College.

Leritz, a second-team All-Northeast-10 selection, is second in the conference in rebounds and third in field goal percentage (.564). He's also made 27 of 65 three-pointers, a .415 accuracy rate.

Leritz has continued his success in the classroom at Bentley, achieving a 3.85 grade point average while pursuing an MBA. At Illinois Wesleyan, he graduated Summa Cum Laude as a finance major.

Leritz becomes the 90th Academic All-America in Bentley University history, a total that ranks in the top 15 among all Division II history. He's the sixth Falcon men's basketball player to earn the recognition, joining Joe Betley (1978-80), Jim Fuerst (1973), Keegan Hyland (2015-16), Tyler McFarland (2016) and Ryan Richmond (2019).
