Bentley Will Be Dancing for the 20th Time, Will Face Dominican (N.Y.) Saturday

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following a 21-6 season, the Bentley University men's basketball team is going dancing for the second straight year and the 20th time in the program's history.

Coach Jay Lawson's club was seeded number two in the East Region and was paired with seventh-seeded Dominican University (N.Y.). Those two, who met previously back in late November with Bentley gaining the win, will face each other on Saturday.

Saint Anselm College, which edged Bentley in the NE10 semis 71-70 on Wednesday and went on to capture the conference crown, was seeded first and will host the East Regional this coming weekend.

Automatic berths went to Saint Anselm, St. Thomas Aquinas College (East Coast) and Caldwell University (Central Atlantic). Bentley received one of five at-large invitations, along with the University of New Haven (20-10), Pace University (20-10), Southern New Hampshire University (20-8) and Dominican (21-8).

In addition to Bentley-Dominican, Saturday's quarterfinal pairings have Saint Anselm (22-7) facing Caldwell (21-9) in a battle of conference champions, Southern New Hampshire will take on St. Thomas Aquinas (26-4) and NE10 rivals New Haven and Pace will see each other in the 4-5 game.

Bentley will be competing in the regional tournament for the 12th time in Lawson's 32 seasons. His teams captured the regional championship and advanced to the Elite Eight four times (2007, 2008, 2010 and last year). No team has repeated as East Region champ since the '07 and '08 Falcons.

The regional semifinals will be Sunday and the regional championship game is Tuesday, March 14.

The winner of the Regional will advance to the Elite Eight in Evansville, Indiana March 21-25
