Leritz Named to CSC Academic All-District Team
WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University graduate student Matt Leritz (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University HS), the 2022 CoSIDA NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Academic All-America of the Year when he was at Illinois Wesleyan, has been named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) NCAA Division II Academic All-District 1 team.
Leritz will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
The six-foot-six forward finished the regular season ranking in the top three in the Northeast-10 Conference in rebounds (9.3), field goal percentage (.572) and three-point accuracy (.456) while also averaging 14.1 points, 0.9 blocks and 0.9 steals.
Leritz has had seven double-doubles for the 20-5 Falcons as well as the two highest rebounding games by a Bentley player in the last 45 years, 19 against Southern New Hampshire in November and 20 against American International on Tuesday.
Leritz, who was a Division III All-America and two-time Academic All-America at Illinois Wesleyan, has career totals that include 1,362 points and 826 rebounds in 111 games.
Leritz has excelled in the classroom at both institutions. After achieving a 3.96 as a finance major at IWU, he's earned a 3.85 at Bentley while pursuing his MBA.
Bentley will host a Northeast-10 quarterfinal game Sunday afternoon with the opponent to be determined.
