Laput Named NE10 Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following a strong start to the season, Bentley University junior guard Zach Laput (Beacon Falls, Conn./Notre Dame HS) has been named the Men's Basketball Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Laput had an outstanding weekend during the Tournament of Heroes at the College of Staten Island as he averaged 24 points, 9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and only 1 turnover. He shot .667 overall, made two of three three-pointers and was 18 of 21 at the foul line. Laput opened the season with a career-high 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in a 113-70 win over Goldey-Beacom, a game in which he missed only one shot (8-8 FG, 2-2 3's, 9-10 FT). He followed with 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 95-82 win over Wilmington. In the two games, Laput was a +56 in 62:37.

Last year, for a Bentley team that finished 25-5 and reached the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, Laput gave the Falcons nearly 15 points and seven rebounds a game. He led the team in total points (444), free throws made (105) and free throws attempted (121), and was selected for the NE10 All-Rookie Team.

Bentley, ranked 14th in Division II preseason, will open its Northeast-10 schedule Saturday at Saint Anselm College.
